Michigan Automotive Parts Association Scholarship

THE MAPA EDUCATIONAL DEVELOPMENT SCHOLARSHIP FUND
 
PURPOSE:
 
The MAPA Educational Development Scholarship Fund is a scholarship of the Capital Region Community
Foundation located in Lansing, Michigan. The purpose of this fund is to assist the legal dependents of Michigan Automotive Parts Association members and their employees pursue a program of undergraduate education.
WHO MAY APPLY:
 
Full time employees and legal dependents of full time employees of members of the Michigan Automotive Parts
Association. Qualified applicants must be enrolled in a two or four year undergraduate degree program at an accredited educational institution located in the United States. Such institutions must be tax-exempt under the Internal Revenue Code.
 
SCHOLARSHIP AWARDS:
 
Scholarships will be awarded each academic year to qualified undergraduate students enrolled full time at an accredited educational institution. Scholarship recipients may reapply for a maximum of three additional years. Recipient selection and scholarship amounts will be determined after careful review by the MAP A Educational Development Scholarship Advisory Committee. This committee is made up of five individuals; two representatives of the Capital Region Community Foundation and three educators. Three (3) Scholarships of $1,000.00 each will be awarded.
 
 

THE CRITERIA FOR SELECTION:

  1. Applicant’s high school scholastic performance if an enrolling freshman, or the applicant’s current undergraduate grade point average.
  2. Applicant’s exemplary qualities of leadership in school and in community.
  3. Applicant’s essay.
  4. Following directions.
  5. Also to be considered for UAF Awards, at least one reference letter.
RENEWING A SCHOLARSHIP:
 
Recipients of the MAPA Educational Development Scholarship are eligible to reapply for renewal scholarship aid for undergraduate studies up to three years provided the recipient remains a full time student in a degree/certificate program at an accredited educational institution and makes satisfactory academic progress. Renewal is not assured, however. Current recipients may reapply regardless of continued membership affiliation with MAPA.
 
If a recipient transfers to another tax exempt educational institution, the MAPA Educational Development Scholarship will not be forfeited if the Capital Region Community Foundation and the Michigan Automotive Parts Association are notified in advance of such transfer .
